Throughout K-HEALTHinAIR, extensive indoor air quality (IAQ) data were collected in real-life environments across Europe to better understand pollutant dynamics, their determinants and the conditions influencing human exposure indoors.
The K-HEALTHinAIR Air Quality Data Repository brings together continuous air quality monitoring data generated across the project’s pilot studies. Originally developed as an internal resource for the K-HEALTHinAIR consortium, the repository is now being made available to the wider research community to facilitate data exploration, reuse and further research on indoor air quality.
The repository contains time-series data collected in a wide range of occupied indoor environments, including homes, hospitals, senior residences, schools, canteens, lecture halls, student residences and a public market, covering monitoring activities carried out between 2023 and 2026.
Through an interactive dashboard-based interface, users can navigate through the available monitoring locations, select time periods and air quality parameters, and explore their evolution over time. The repository provides different levels of exploration, from an overall view of the K-HEALTHinAIR monitoring dataset to pilot-, scenario-, area- and sensor-specific views.
Continuous monitoring was conducted using different sensor systems according to the characteristics and requirements of each K-HEALTHinAIR pilot.
Depending on the monitoring location and device, available indoor parameters may include:
Temperature (T) · Relative humidity (RH) · CO₂ · PM₁ · PM₂.₅ · PM₄ · PM₁₀ · total volatile organic compounds (tVOC) · formaldehyde (CH₂O)
Additional environmental parameters are available for some specific monitoring locations. Outdoor air quality information was also incorporated into the monitoring system to provide environmental context to indoor measurements.
| Pilot | Country | Indoor environments |
|---|---|---|
| Pilot 1 | Spain | High-risk outpatients’ homes · Hospital · Public market |
| Pilot 2 | The Netherlands | Senior home · Older people’s/outpatients’ homes |
| Pilot 3 | Norway | Canteens · Student residences · Lecture halls |
| Pilot 4 | Germany | Canteens · Lecture halls |
| Pilot 5 | Poland & Austria | Homes · Schools |
The monitoring systems deployed across the project included inBiot, Kaiterra and IoT Fabrikken sensors, complemented by external outdoor air quality information and, in the Norwegian pilot, local outdoor monitoring using Kunak devices. Consequently, the specific parameters available and monitoring periods vary between scenarios and monitoring locations.
A distinctive feature of the K-HEALTHinAIR repository is the diversity of the environments represented. Rather than originating from a single experimental campaign, the repository brings together continuous measurements obtained under real operating and occupancy conditions across multiple European indoor environments.
This provides opportunities to explore:
Scope of the repository: The K-HEALTHinAIR Air Quality Data Repository provides access to the continuous air quality monitoring data stored in the project platform. Other datasets generated during K-HEALTHinAIR, including targeted chemical and microbiological sampling, questionnaires and health-related information, are not included in this repository.
The K-HEALTHinAIR Air Quality Data Repository provides an interactive environment based on Grafana dashboards, allowing users to explore the continuous air quality measurements collected across the project.
Rather than providing a single view of the data, the repository offers different levels of exploration, ranging from an overall view of the K-HEALTHinAIR monitoring dataset to pilot- and scenario-specific views. Interactive filters allow users to select the pilot, scenario, sub-scenario, monitoring area, sensor device, pollutant and time period of interest.
Through the available dashboards, users can:
Pilot-specific dashboards provide focused views for each country represented in the repository. Some monitoring scenarios also include more detailed analytical dashboards developed during the project to demonstrate additional possibilities for exploring and analysing continuous IAQ data.

The K-HEALTHinAIR Air Quality Data Repository is open to researchers and other interested users upon request.
The repository is hosted and maintained on CARTIF infrastructure. Prior authorisation is therefore required for technical and cybersecurity reasons. These access controls are intended to protect the hosting infrastructure and do not constitute a restriction on the scientific reuse of the available data.
Please contact khia_platform@cartif.es and provide:
Once the request has been approved, individual credentials will be provided and access will be enabled from the authorised IP address.
Access is normally enabled for a 7-day consultation period. If additional time is required, an extension can be requested.
For security reasons, access is restricted to the authorised IP address and individual credentials should not be shared with third parties.
The K-HEALTHinAIR Air Quality Data Repository is made available to support the open reuse of the air quality data generated by the project for research, scientific and educational purposes.
By accessing and using the repository, users agree to:
The data are provided as generated and consolidated within the K-HEALTHinAIR project. Quality-control procedures were applied throughout the project; however, the datasets may contain gaps, interruptions, differences in temporal coverage or other limitations associated with continuous monitoring under real-life conditions.
The monitoring systems, parameters and temporal coverage also vary between scenarios and locations. Users should therefore consider the corresponding contextual information when analysing and comparing the data.
Users are responsible for assessing the suitability of the data for their intended analyses and for the interpretation of the results obtained. Access to the repository does not imply any warranty regarding the completeness of the data or their fitness for a particular purpose.
For scientific publications or other substantial reuse of the data, users are encouraged to contact the K-HEALTHinAIR team at khia_platform@cartif.es.
The team can provide additional information on the datasets and their interpretation and, where appropriate, facilitate contact with the project partners involved in generating the data.
When using data obtained through the repository, please acknowledge the K-HEALTHinAIR project.

The Air Quality Data Repository was developed as part of the broader K-HEALTHinAIR Data Platform, designed to collect, harmonise, store, visualise and support the analysis of air quality data generated across the project’s pilot studies. The repository combines continuous monitoring time series with contextual information on monitoring devices, pilots, scenarios and areas, providing a common environment for exploring data collected across different European settings.
For users interested in the technical development of the platform, its architecture, harmonised air quality data model and deployment are described in the project’s public technical deliverables.
