Indoor air quality represents a critical public health concern that affects everyone, yet remains poorly understood by the general population. People spend approximately 90% of their time indoors, making the quality of these environments’ paramount for respiratory health and overall wellbeing. Despite this significance, there exists a substantial knowledge gap regarding the fundamental principles of indoor air quality and its direct health implications.
The K-HEALTHinAIR project addresses this critical gap through comprehensive scientific research aimed at evaluating the effects of indoor air quality on health based on robust scientific evidence. The project conducts extensive monitoring campaigns of chemical and biological indoor air pollutants across several highly representative locations in Europe, alongside in-depth analysis of pollutant sources, interactions, and their correlations with health problems through clinical trials and laboratory approaches. The project's overarching goal is to provide cost-effective and easy-to-implement enforcement measures to monitor and improve indoor air quality, as well as guidelines to support real-life interventions. As part of this initiative, there is a clear need to disseminate foundational knowledge about indoor air quality to build awareness and understanding among both the general public and key stakeholders.
Therefore, this webinar aims to provide comprehensive understanding of indoor air quality foundations, examine the impacts of indoor air pollutants on respiratory health, and introduce the K-HEALTHinAIR project's objectives and approach to addressing these critical issues.
The webinar is designed primarily for the general public and key stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers, and building managers. By providing accessible, evidence-based information, the webinar will increase public awareness of indoor air quality issues, empower individuals to make informed choices about their indoor environments, and create a shared foundation of knowledge that connects scientific findings with practical understanding.
This webinar directly supports K-HEALTHinAIR's mission of translating scientific evidence into real-world applications. It serves as the initial step in a comprehensive knowledge transfer strategy that will ultimately contribute to improved indoor air quality across Europe through informed public action and evidence-based policy development.
